Questions
No. Only you need Spokked. The others hear the translation through your microphone in the call, and you can see what they say as subtitles in your language.
Spokked needs Chrome. It does not work in Firefox or Safari.
Spokked does not store the text or audio of your calls. Only while Spokked is on in a call, the extension sends your microphone audio to the Spokked server over an encrypted connection, and nothing while you are muted. If you turn on subtitles or hearing the others, it also sends the Meet tab's audio: the other participants and anything else playing in the tab, so it can be translated for you. During a call the text and audio stay in the server's memory, and for up to 60 seconds after a dropped connection, so the call can resume. If you choose your own voice, ElevenLabs makes a copy of your voice for Spokked, and the reading recording is deleted once the copy is made. Spokked keeps your consent recording, with its text and a fingerprint of the file, and one short sample in the new voice, for as long as the copy of your voice exists. The record that you consented, without the audio, is kept for the period the law requires. On your account page, Delete my voice asks ElevenLabs to delete the copy, then deletes your consent recording and the sample.
